I left a little early today so that I could go for a run. Unfortunately, I skipped it because it was chilly outside... I want to run a little bit this week so that I can jump in the last mile of the marathon next monday. That's what I did in 2003 (has it been that long?? What did I do last year?). I figure if I run every day this week (except today) I'll be fine for a mile. A fast mile would put some strain on my ticker, but a slow mile is cake. Besides, although I might be out of shape, I've been doing more endurance sports lately, such as....well, uhh, nevermind.
Hey Dave,
I'm excited that you might run the last mile of the Matathon with me! I'm guessing that you might run with me. Maybe you might find someone more interesting to run with (damsel in distress, etc.)
After a couple practice runs around the block this week at a 9-minute/mile pace, you'll be ready to drag my butt to the finish line.
Opinion: Do not attempt the run in your Chuck Taylors. Shin splints and foot pain will be just around the next corner. You might as well roll a car over your feet instead...
Let me know if you want me to set up the athlete's alert SMS to help you estimate my ETA. That system really didn't work well in previous years. I think I might bring my "old flippy" cell unit with me so I can take some of the guesswork out of my ETA.
Good luck cramming for the "running with pop" quiz.

Matathon, Marathon, Schmarathon.
After 24 of them, I call them what I want.
